Royal Palms (Roystonea)

A genus of about twelve species of tall, majestic palm centered on the Caribbean region and adjacent areas in Central America, northern South America, Florida and Mexico. They have a very distinctive appearance, with a stout, tall, solitary trunk; prominent, long crown-shaft beset with phallic spadices; and a graceful crown of feathery fronds, with most species having the leaflets arranged in several ranks.
